We are sorry for this late announcement, and we want to let you know that the scheduled maintenance [MNT-20250819-00007] has been completed. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
For the results of the maintenance, please see below.
START TIME (UTC): 00:00, 19 AUG 2025
END TIME (UTC): 08:32, 19 AUG 2025
IMPACT: Hypervisor HKG01, i.e. all Hong Kong VPS’s Hong Kong looking glass Hong Kong network
DESCRIPTION: After investigating into the very low transfer speed of VM disks we mentioned in our last email, we found out that our upstream network provider was under heavy DDoS attack traffic, which resulted in high packet loss rate, and hence, a very low transfer speed.
Most VPS’s were migrated before 6:00 UTC, while the migration of a few servers continued after that. VPS’s with large disk size suffered took an extremely long time to migrate due to the DDoS attack, with the last VPS finished migrating at 8:32 UTC.
IPv6 network is not yet ready at the new facility in Hong Kong and will be provided after the migration back to the original hypervisor, HKG01. IPv6 subnets will be assigned to Hong Kong VPS’s after the second migration.
We are very sorry about these extra hours added onto the scheduled maintenance, and we will factor in the extended length of the maintenance when deciding the number of days of free extension given to active Hong Kong VPS’s.
We apologise for the inconvenience this extended maintenance has brought to you. Please contact us if you have any concerns regarding the maintenance, via our email contact@salmoncloud.co.uk , Discord server https://discord.gg/X4Yxc8eaBw , or ticket system. Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards, SalmonCloud Team

To gain access to a power supply of higher wattage so that we can more easily scale up our operations in Hong Kong, we will be carrying out a migration of all Hong Kong VPS’s to our new facility in Hong Kong at 00:00 UTC on 19 Aug 2025, which is expected to last 2 hours.
IP addresses/subnets in the following network segments will be replaced with address/subnets from new network segments: 91.124.30.0/24 180.131.144.0/24 2602:fa67:101::/48 2602:fa67:102::/48
All VPS’s will be rebooted to apply the new network configurations. Your VPS may lose network access temporarily before it is rebooted and the new network configurations are applied. You may need to manually configure these new IP addresses/subnets on your VPS if you disabled cloud-init on your VPS or used a custom ISO when setting up your VPS, and therefore, in this case, your VPS may lose network access for a prolonged period of time. The upstream network provider will be changed to CTCSCI + GSL after the migration.
The new hypervisor, HKG03, will be a server running on second-generation AMD EPYC CPUs and a RAID-1 SSD array. Therefore, your VPS may experience a decrease in vCPU performance and disk IO speed. This is only a temporary arrangement, and we are planning to move the current hypervisor, HKG01, to our new facility one week after this VPS migration so that all VPS can be moved back onto the more performant HKG01 as soon as possible. As you may have realised, this means a second migration will take place later. We will try to minimise the impact of the second migration by ensuring that no changes in IP addresses/subnets of your VPS will occur and by reducing the downtime in network connectivity. Separate notices for the second migration will be sent out in due time with more detailed information.
After the second migration, all active Hong Kong VPS products will receive a free extension to compensate for the degraded performance during the transition period before moving back to HKG01 and the disruption to your operations caused by the two migrations.
We apologise for the inconvenience this maintenance will bring you. Please contact us if you have any concerns regarding the maintenance, via our email contact@salmoncloud.co.uk , Discord server https://discord.gg/X4Yxc8eaBw , or ticket system. Thank you for your understanding.
